Design proposal for residential building with a partial existing frame
The initial brief for the residential building is an unfinished structure with more than 15 years of the complex history of redevelopment and reconstructions. An interesting task.
The client considered various options for increasing net footage and designing the building program. The existing frame and the "Ekran" cinema should be considered as the starting point for the building reconstruction. One part of the existing frame is already built for residential functions, while the other - is for public and entertainment options.
Therefore, the main challenge was to combine the new program and the existing parts of the building, increasing the useful area within the given "concrete" conditions, as well as taking into account the restrictions along the line of contact with the cinema. The analysis and research of all previous design solutions became an important factor in working with the proposal
